Becoming Embellishment
Park Inseong | Yoonsun Gallery
12. Oct. - 15. Dec.
...The hybrid nature of the pictures of Park Inseong, their development out of different media, transports what has become our everyday, multilayered and constantly moving perception. Even if Park proceeds in an experimental manner, he repeatedly finds a form that is capable of convincing us. The pictures are like occurrences which, as in the flow of our lives, take on a provisional form only to be pushed aside by others with the passing of time. Nonetheless, they prove in retrospect to have been significant moments and accordingly remain contoured and fixed in our memory...

Vi-sic
: Melody of Sight
Kim Hyun-Sik, Lee Yong-Baek, Lim Hyun-Hee, Park In-Seong
08. Mar. - 19. May
The exhibition <VI·SIC> by contemporary artists Lee Yong-baek (李庸白, 1966-), Kim Hyun-sik (金玄植, 1965-), Lim Hyun-hee (1984-), and Park In-seong (朴寅成, 1984-) will be held at Daegu Yoonsun Gallery. ‘VI·SIC’ is a compound word of visual art and music . . . The world of artists Hyunsik Kim, Yongbaek Lee, Inseong Park, and Hyunhee Lim goes beyond the contextualism and symbolism of visual art, and they are artists who directly move us like music, so we would like to name them VIㆍSIC to mean visual art like music. The fact that the four artists' art, or visual art, resonates directly like music is related to their spiritual spirit, respect for honest and unfeigned labor, and respect for the truth. This is because work is done by judging whether or not there is a break.

20. Nov. - 30. Dec.
Artists express the invisible world, the world of coexistence, in their own way. Artists focus on what they want to express rather than on relationships of actual existence, such as the gap and unfamiliarity that comes from relationships, freshness, ambiguity, and new images such as multiple scenes superimposed. Nothing is certain, and each individual's perspective becomes the standard, defining each new time and space, and disparate things come together to create another meaning. This is an extremely personal choice and gives personal meaning. Let’s take a look at the world beyond that expressed by artists in this undefinable world.

. . . This perspective shows that the methods of recording the past and the present are changing depending on the environment, and that the records that past and future mankind will view and select have and will continue to change due to the influence of society, culture, and values. suggests. In this exhibition, artist Inseong Park seeks to address “the causes and consequences of humanity’s comprehensive recorded culture” through visual art work. We aim to present various perspectives on documentary culture to the audience by analyzing the records and formats of the past as seen from the present and exhibiting the resulting results through visual media. By overlapping the myths, tales, and history of Gyeongju (Seorabeol), a city that has existed since ancient times, where the exhibition is held, with the current Gyeongju, we aim to point out what and how to record and share . . .

witches escaping the march
Kim Il-Ji, Park In-Seong, Ahn Hyo-Chan, Lim Do
19. Nov. - 31. Dec.
In the title of this exhibition, ‘assembly’ symbolizes the contemporary era. Modern people who are aware of the limitations of modernity and post-modernity have the choice of finding new alternatives or moving forward by gradually modifying conventions. In addition, a 'witch' is a character who is misunderstood or misunderstood in this society and can be replaced by anyone. The exhibition <Witches Leaving the Coven> asks how ‘we’, members of this society, can create a better world.

you : in the fantasy
Park Inseong | Art Space LINK
07. Oct. - 30. Oct.
This exhibition, ‘You : in the Fantasy’, borrows the title of a popular song that dominated an era. This is similar to Park Inseong's work in that it dismantles the existing codes we are familiar with and shows an unfamiliar world with new forms and sensibilities. Like the lyrics, ‘Even if everything is falling apart, you are still there in the fantasy,’ Park Inseong’s hazy and ambiguous screen allows the audience to focus on the reality beyond the indiscernible objects and images, and to see one’s own appearance standing alone within it. Let us gain insight into its essence. The world that originates from the fantasy of a painter or writer who pursues ‘reality’ more than anything else can only exist through the power of fantasy, which is more carefully structured than reality, and at the same time, the power of reality that pierces that fantasy once again is layered together.

05. Aug. - 25. Sep.
The title “Minus” has a special meaning. First, expresses the artists' will to move from abstract space to absolute space. Second, it reflects the author's intention to move from the aesthetic realm to the moral realm. Third, it refers to the author's insight into examining the fundamental differences between Western culture, such as Indo-German languages, and East Asian culture.

. . . As per the artist's detailed intention, the conflicting elements of romanticism, modernism, analog, and digital maintain a state of tension and support each other in the work. The complete scene pursued by the artist refers to visual thinking that allows the past, present, and future of visual culture to be reflected and predicted at the same time. Artist's visual thinking has now opened its doors. Therefore, I sincerely hope that the author will soon overcome the tributary stream, land on the magnificent main stream, and succeed in riding the wonderful flow. And it is predicted that this trend will arrive in the not too distant future . . .

Sewoon Shopping Center has been leading the industry with the know-how and pride of its craftsmen, to the extent that there is a saying, “If you have a blueprint, you can make a rocket.” Paying attention to the attractive location of ‘Pilsungsa’ located among the stores there, three artists came together to present the collaborative work Dummies.
The three artists studied at the same school in Germany or met each other with the same major, and have continued to interact for a long time, sharing their work perspectives together.
I've been thinking about it. With that first collaboration, we grew up in different cities and countries, so we had no nostalgia or enjoyment of Sewoon Shopping Center.

hidden surface
Park Inseong | Hidden space
28. Jun. - 23. Jul.
. . . The main works in this exhibition “Hidden Surface” are stories about art through film. In the West, art was a medium that had to prioritize beauty. This basic premise has been maintained for a long time. Kalokagathia is a mysterious idea in which truth, goodness, and beauty are all mixed together. It is a compound word of Kallos, meaning beauty, and Agathos, meaning goodness. It refers to a state in which physical, moral, and mental virtues (Arete) are appropriately harmonized. The history of Western art shows the process of elements gradually becoming isolated from Kalokagatia. Art, in which refined and beautiful stories were unfolded with amazing skill and imagination, gradually began to distance itself from the dual values of beauty, good and evil, good and bad, honor and glory, and wealth . . .

This 2021 Beomeo Street Project <HIP Art Road> Part 1 ‘Re(born)’ exhibition focuses on the ‘space’ of Beomeo Art Street, which is part of the underground street for taking the subway or moving to destinations. Although this is a place with a large floating population, the time occupancy rate for people staying to enjoy culture and arts is relatively low. Therefore, by mobilizing a new perspective, we would like to reinterpret the 'underground space', which cannot be encountered unless you go underground, into a place full of uniqueness through works of art. The existing standardized underground space is transformed into a ‘space of art, by art, and for art’ using various formative elements and creative and experimental imagination.

From May 14th to June 4th, Hwan Gallery is planning an exhibition by two artists who express each utopia with their own titles, ‘Heaven’ and ‘Memory.’ Through this exhibition, you will be able to understand the utopia of the two artists' artistic concepts.

. . . Artists Park Seong-deok and Park In-seong do not value the camera's ability to record in general or provide one-sided information. He is not even interested in capturing beautiful scenes. At least that's what the work results show. There is no doubt that the camera is a tool to look into the world, but the way it is used is a little different from others. One person becomes the film of the photograph, and the other uses the camera in a way to view the outside scenery that film can never capture. The two's exhibition, Dictionary of Camera Terms, held at the cultural space Cabaret Voltaire from September 11 to 25, was neither an exhibition about a machine called a camera nor an exhibition about well-photographed subjects . . .

That's because modern art is associated with the creation of forms that combine heterogeneous units at a certain level to create relationships with the world.
The 9th resident artists will present a variety of works that exude unexpected energy through these ‘Crossed Perspective’.

. . . To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea, various special exhibitions were created, countless documentaries were broadcast, and the lives of independence activists who had not been highlighted were introduced. However, the place of modern art was not visible in many of these events. The more I read books and watched documentaries, the more I found myself ignorant of history, and it was still difficult for me to find my place as a person in the art world living in this era.
Of course, art has its own role. The process of art expressing its voice in modern times often seemed to be confined within the art world and proceeded unrelated to reality and history. In particular, there were not many cases where ‘contemporary art’, which reflects contemporaneity, ponders and mentions the past. That may be a lame excuse for our ignorance. However, it may be a cliché, but the present is not possible without the past, and there is no future without the present. So what can we do now, living 100 years after the independence activists? First, I had to meet them as they lived 100 years ago. That’s how <ROADSHOW 2019: From Shanghai to Chongqing> began. About 20 planners and writers gathered at Dongnimmun Gate on March 1, 2019, held a launching ceremony, and traveled to China following the footsteps of the provisional governments in Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Jiaxing, Chongqing, Qijiang, and Changsha. Following the stories encountered during travel to China, in Korea, there are places directly or indirectly related to the provisional government, such as Magoksa Temple (Gongju), Yun Bong-gil Memorial Hall (Yangjae), Independence Hall (Cheonan), Lee Dong-nyeong's birthplace (Cheonan), and Kim Gu Memorial Hall (Hyochang Park). visited places . . .

Superstition is from the Latin word superstes (standing over) and is defined by The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition as “an irrational belief that an object, action, or circumstance not logically related to a course of events influences its outcome.” Hyperstition has come to encompass the quality of actively altering one’s reality in such a way as to bring about demonstrable change.

19. Jan. - 22. Jan.
You need your own imagination and expressiveness to reconstruct the shared action with your own way of perceiving and expressing it. And we already have that. It just depends on whether you have perceived it, because there is a huge gap between them when you look at it. If we have already had that, then we can look at more than a hundred faces of Janus at the same time. The faces that appear do not return to one face; they continue to perceive and express themselves with separate facial expressions. However, the faces are not particular faces because they were positioned on one face. And the other facial expressions just stare at each other. Therefore, "the" would not be "plural", but "plural" would be "that".
